Are Scream movies streaming on Paramount+?

Scream 7, the franchise’s seventh installment, was released in theatres on Feb. 27, 2026. The film, which delivered a franchise-best number at the box office in its opening weekend, is now showing exclusively in theatres.

What is the Scream franchise about?
The Scream franchise follows a series of characters who are stalked by a masked killer known as Ghostface. In 1996’s Scream, Scream 2, Scream 3, Scream 4, and 2022’s Scream, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) and her friends and family are menaced by a Ghostface who is never the same person. Sometimes in these films, in fact, the Ghostface mask is donned by multiple people, keeping the violent mystery fun. Scream VI fully focuses on a new generation of Ghostface victims, led by Tara Carpenter (Jenna Ortega).
Though Campbell doesn’t appear in Scream VI, her character is referenced. She reprises her role in Scream 7.
Beyond the storylines, the franchise has taken on a life of its own as a fan-favorite slasher set. The first film catapulted Campbell into movie fame, and became a cornerstone film of the ‘90s. With horror trope idolization and a laundry list of big stars who’ve made cameos and some of the most memorable moments in horror history, it’s a series of movies that fans watch again and again.
How to watch the Scream movies in order
If you’re planning a Scream movie marathon, you’ll definitely want to watch the films in the correct order. While it may seem straightforward, two films do have the same title. Don’t get tricked! Here’s how to watch the Scream movies in order of release, which is also the chronological order.
Scream (1996)
The frightening fun begins in Woodsboro, California, where Sidney Prescott (Campbell) and her friends are terrorized by Ghostface. Scream also stars Courteney Cox, David Arquette, and Jamie Kennedy. This classic kicks off with an unforgettable opening scene with Drew Barrymore.

Scream 2
Sidney Prescott (Campbell) goes off to college – somewhat in an effort to escape her horror-inducing hometown past – only to fall into the middle of another killing spree. As an added bonus: You know the famous movie-theatre scene with Jada Pinkett Smith (then billed as Jada Pinkett) as a character who dissects the social dynamics of horror movies? That’s from this movie.

Scream 3
Life imitates art when a fresh new Ghostface starts murdering the cast of Stab 3, the franchise’s film-within-a-film franchise that’s based on Sidney Prescott’s life. Look for future White Lotus star Parker Posey as Jennifer Jolie, a Stab 3 actor who’s been cast as Cox’s Gale Weathers. (And, yes, even by the self-aware franchise’s standards, Scream 3 movie is very, very meta.)

Now a published author, Prescott (Campbell) visits Woodsboro on tour for her book Out of Darkness, only for Ghostface to terrorize her and her younger cousin, Jill Roberts (Emma Roberts).

Scream (2022)
Scream fast-forwards 25 years to find Ghostface at it again in Woodsboro, this time terrorizing Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera) and new scream queen Jenna Ortega as Tara Carpenter. Campbell, Cox, and Arquette reprise their roles from the original films.

The quiet life of Sidney Prescott (Campbell) in Indiana is brutally interrupted by a new Ghostface, who targets her daughter, Tatum, played by Isabel May (1883, 1923). The new film opened in theatres on Feb. 27, 2026. It is now showing exclusively in theatres.
